What about the song???
Lambert's coming out at the AMAsThe American Music Awards show producers saved the most provocative for last - Adam Lambert. And that wasn't easy in a show that featured performances by Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Eminem, Whitney Houston, Shakira, Green Day, Mary J. Blige, Daughtry, the Black Eyes Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.
American Idol glam rocker Adam Lambert "came out" on Sunday's American Music Awards. Lambert, who was runner up on Idol to Kris Allen, sang his new song For Your Entertainment on Sunday's award
show. As part of the elaborate, S&M-themed production, Lambert fondled a dancer, led another around on a leash, had a dancer briefly stick his head in Lambert's crotch simulating oral sex and
kissed a man.
Lambert told CNN that the kiss that he planted on a male keyboardist during his song was "in the moment," as in not rehearsed. "Part of what I love about being a live performer is that sometimes
you just are in the moment and sometimes things just happen," he said. "Adrenaline is a crazy, crazy, crazy feeling. Some of the things I love most about performing is when you're up there and
all of the sudden you just have these feelings, this rush that comes over you."
Lambert surely made an impression with the performance. ABC has logged more than 1,500 viewer complaints about the performance. But what about the song? Lambert, whose musical interpretations
during Idol, have made his new album one of the most stylistically anticipated in years, may have "come out" to strong and overpowered his music,. Not one person or commentator today that I have
encountered has mentioned the song. In my opinion, Adam came out the wrong way. What do you think? Comment below.
Meanwhile, all the hype about the star-studded event seems to have paid off. According to preliminary Nielsen ratings, the American Music Awards show saw its best numbers since 2002, with 14.2
million viewers.
