Doogie grows up to be Emmy host!
Television's annual love fest and trophy bonanza - The Emmy Awards - were presented Sunday night in Los Angeles. After watching the three-hour broadcast on CBS, sat and pondered the night's lingering questions. Questions that may reshape the world.
Who would have predicted that Doogie Howser, M.D. would grow-up to and become America's premier award show emcee? Neal Patrick Harris was charming, snarky, devilish and irreverent as Emmy host, proving his Tony Award performance wasn't a flash in the pan. Can the Emmy host win the 2010 Emmy for performance in a special or variety show?
Will every award show from here until eternity contain an obligatory Kanye West joke? Sunday's Emmy broadcast had four, none of which were funny.
What doesn't Justin Timberlake do well? Timberlake won his second Emmy for his guest work on Saturday Night Live. The fireplace mantel in his home was already impressive with Grammy's, VMA's
and Kid's Choice Awards.
Speaking of Timberlake and SNL, how hard is Lorne Michaels trying to convince Timberlake to be a regular presence on SNL? If he isn't going it already - he should start, NOW!
Emmy's new staging, and format seemed to be a hit with critics and viewers. Ratings for the broadcast were up for the first time since 2006. Now, what can Emmy do to bring more spice to the
nominees and winners and avoid this year's boredom beat of repeating winners? Mad Men - again! 30 Rock -again! Alec Baldwin, Glen Close, Bryan Cranston - Again, Again and Again.
How can you tell that the "it was an honor to be nominated" folks didn't really mean what they said? Just look at the faces of this year's Dramatic Actress losers. The disappointed actresses
weren't even trying to pretend like they were happy for Glenn Close.
After successfully handling the Tony and Emmy hosting duties, what's next for Neal Patrick Harris? Grammy's? Oscar's? Miss Universe?
